Welcome
Chaparral Nursery began in 1977 primarily as
a business to supplement the retirement income of Arthur and Vivian
Bell. At that time they grew azalea cuttings and sold them to
other growers and to the general public on a retail level. As
the years passed, they built more and more greenhouses until there were
five small “Quonset houses” in their backyard. The business
expanded to include 150 varieties of hanging baskets specializing in
Boston ferns and annuals.
After hurricane Hugo and then the “1992
Storm of the Century”, all inventory and buildings had been
lost. Chaparral Nursery was passed on to their son Michael
Bell and the restructure of the nursery began. Today there
are three distinct companies to serve you.
